I came across a company I never heard about before: https://www.upeksha.net. They produce a slalom specific twintip named Gawa. First twintip specifically designed for slalom or are there others ? According to the website the boards are suited for big air because they can be controlled at high speed. Anyone who have tried these boards ?

Why would anyone want to race a twin tip as it is the slowest and least efficient board on the water compared to race boards or foils? Sounds like a donkey race to me...

Kinda the same reason someone would do a spec race series I guess? But hell driving a Miata, or an econo box fast is way more fun then trying to go fast on a TT.

Because most people have a twintip. Why have a dedicated twintip race class ? Don't know really. I guess it makes racing more accessible.

Maybe this slalom board is no slower than raceboards or hydrofoils? Might be loads of fun.
Or maybe it's only slightly slower than raceboards and foils... bound to be cheaper, though.
Will be hard on the knees, probably. Especially after a big air. But raceboards are hard on knees (and ankles) as well, and they don't jump very well.
I'd love to join a competition, here in Holland. There is a (rather small) hydrofoil race comp, but I can't afford it. Of course, these slalom boards profit from a race specific kite, would make the racing expensive anyway....

They are finding a niche...and getting Olympic racers is a good move...looks like they perform well, according to the podiums they posted.

Imagine running a race in 40 knots and 5m swell right through the surf. That would be awesome. Race board/foil board simply wouldnt be usable in those conditions!
