Although not so many riders, most of the advertising and sponsoring monies go there!
I guess it is more photogenic

What is the Vegas vs other North kites ratio at your spots?
And how does it compared to the "favorite" kite of these guys?

Kiteboarding on the whole is definitely not on the decline in the UK!

People stop doing wakestyle once their testosterone drops, they grow man boobs, and turn in their man card......then they get in touch with their feminine self and start foiling, riding surfboards.

i have met a few younger riders getting into it and they are inspired and love it, but generally i would say not only wakestyle died, kiteboarding overall died down a lot too.( aussie)

had a session this week on my own... 20 knots+ , perfect swell.. no one else out.. been happening more and more.
Yep, 4 kites out today on NW wind in 5km radius....Not to mention 3 shops closed, one after 15y. It is happening, and a lot to thank to a hf, me thinks.
WS? What is a ws on my local? 4 years ago, maybe. Now? Zero.

The school was working 100% over summer, but, I do not see almost any student starting for real...

There's quite a few people who ride the Vegas at my spot in Rio, but the number of folks who actually practice wakestyle tricks is next to zero. Every now and then I'll see someone who's clearly a beginner on a Vegas and ask them why. It's amazing how much misinformation gets passed around.

Pretty much all modern kites can be used well below their potential without adverse effects in CLEAN wind. NEEDING a more beginner friendly or freeride kite with more control is not really necessary until the kiter begins to kite in a location with DIRTY winds.

Many times we have seen kiters with amazing skills come to my home lake and throw tricks that I cannot even name. And every time, those advanced kiters cannot make it upwind in our shifty/gusty/lasting lull winds. But the locals hyere do and do it with beginner or freeride kites and get admiration for that simple skill from those seemingly "advanced" visitors.

So no problem on using a tuned up high performance kite in clean wind even if your skills are beginner to intermediate. But try that in dirty winds, and you look like a tool.

They get in touch with feminine side and grown boobs of neglected wives and girlfriends of wake-wannabe-but-not-quite-yet kooks.
