I have recently bought an old flexifoil bar and a flexifoil Proton kite. I think the model year is 2013.

Anyway, the kite is fine, but the bar... I don't get it how the safety system is meant to work.

There is a metal ring under QR, which I honestly don't what to use for. Then there is a safety line were I assume that the leash goes. The thing is just that the safety line is very short. Pulling the QR would only make the bar go like 1 meter from the Chicken Loop... I mean, the kite will not flag out fully if the bar doesn't run at least a kite span, right?

Nevertheless, I'd be happy if someone could tell me how this bar is working, see the attached image

Had a Flexi kite once that was the same although without that strange ring on the chickenloop. You're right about the leash attachment. It's a mini 5th which doesn't flag the kite completely but pulls equally on both frontlines - kite flattens out in water (depowers). The strange thing about this safety system is that the chickenloop stays on your harness hook when engaged. Maybe the mysterious ring is supposed to help reloading after release. Would need to see it closeup and released to figure it out.

Anyway my suggestion is to try the safety system out in really low wind conditions (with a helper) to make you feel it safe to use. Looks unused!

The safety is a mini 5th, it pulls the front lines in similar to pulling he depower strap in really far, it does not flag out the kite

The ring below is for Suicide attachment for unhooked riding, you can connect your leash through both rings so that when unhooked you have suicide connection, but if you release the safety it goes onto the safety line

If you’re after a flag out system then buy another bar

Also if you intend on using this on the water, feed your leash through the chickenloop before clipping onto the ring. If this is a similar model to the one I had, the whole chicken loop detaches, so it'll disappear in the water forever when you eject if the donkey dick isnt clipped in.
