II had this very same question in my mind a couple years ago. I rode the Imperatoe 6 in Greece. It’s a smooth board, preforms well, and definitely charges upwind. It did not blow my socks off like I had hoped and as the price tag would suggest. I’m very happy to say that the Nobile NHP carbon did blow me away and I purchased one. At the time, the boards were about the same price but the Carved board did not include their incredibly expensive foot pads. The Nobile comes complete.
I find the NHP took a little to get used to because of the “magic rocker” the Nobile uses. It has amazing pop goes up went very well and definitely eat Up the chop. That magic rocker also minimizes a lot of splashing in my face which I like very much.
For me this was a no-brainer in the end. I feel the NHP carbon outpreforms the Imperator at a lower pricepoint to boot.
As with all things, it’s best try try out everything and decide for yourself.
Good luck

If I may,
It is not the board only charging upwind. It is the straps angle + the board.
Some straps are more angled than another. That changes the dynamics and easy to prove.
Hence, I would look first at the straps I like, which are the best for my foot shape.
Than, the process can be lengthy to find the board to match...
350 for straps? God....sure, np if they really are for my foot, otherwise no go.

I have a C/Fly Elite, it was part of a replacement deal for a rejected Raptor LTD (long story).
Yes it's light, great to travel with and is nice if you like Carbon.
I have /had a number of other boards too, all of which are heavier, but not necessarily worse for their weight.
The Elite goes upwind very well, but in the very rough chop, it can occasionally bounce out and lose its edge if going too hard.
Difficult to point this at it's lighter weight, but something I don't find with say a C?Fly Raptor 140 & 136, Cabrinha Xcaliber, Tronic or a Concept Split.
The heavier boards of all types do feel more planted in the rough chop than the Elite. Maybe that's just against the selection I've tried.
When the Elite comes to the end of it's time with me, I can't see me buying another high end board, lighter days with glassy water are too few for me these days to justify.
I would look at the Raptor, Bronq or an Xcaliber, depending on the conditions of where I'm kiting most.

If you ignore everything else, the nobile's hydrodynamic rocker line is magic.
Why is that?
