A good bar should have a stopper.
Setting it up for your arm length is important to have.
Plus to make some tricks possible.

stopper balls never worked right they always tend to slip down the bar and leave you 100% powered up when you least expect it. I mean maybe they work ok when brand new but after a few sessions they quit gripping properly. throw length is now done on modern bars with an adjustable loop cleat, not stopper balls so stopper balls are not required to adjust throw length. You pull out the loop and bring the whole trim line closer also so it's much better than the stopper ball for short arms. the above the bar swivel is also going away because that shit never worked. Control bars are switching to below the bar swivel.
Toby is making a control bar forgot who he's doing it with, which has the micro hook that's what you want anyway.

I have stopper balls on all my bars: Liquid Force, North, Flysurfer. Not the current models, but new enough.

You need a stopper to do any variation deadman, or any kind of move where you do a board off and pass the board around your body. You can also use the stopper to play air guitar, point both your fingers into a gun shape and do a double handed air gun while you go "Pow pow pow" with your mouth, and scratch your nuts with one hand while you twirl the board like a baton with the other. They have a lot of uses.
