The only way it should change the characteristics is if the shorter center lines pinch the leading edge in. That is a big if. As long as the lines are all the right length it will be fine. You would have to go super short for the lines to pull the outside of the kite in. As long as the kite maintains its designed shape you are good.

I must say, I dont believe it matters at all...

And even IF you could feel a small difference, it might as well be to the slightly better instead.

So just choose the linelength you want :thumb:

Sorry, I resurrect this topic, but my issue is quite similar. I own two north rebels (12m/9m) and two 24m bars (I bought the second one used, for backup).
I now got a 7m rebel for high winds, but I was thinking of shortening the lines on one bar for it (from bar side), let's say at ...20m? What is your opinion on that? :-?
I also want to ask who can make those changes and how safe this is.

Slightly off-topic but I have a bar with 24m lines & a bar with 20m lines. I totally love riding the 2 different ones, particularly with small kites. I use the 20's in high wind, really fun. I use the 24 when the wind is a little lighter. Fun if you have the budget for it :D :D :D

I made myself a custom line set for my click bar with 18m for foiling. I use the bar with Neo 6, 8, 9 and occasionally 10m. I did not adjust the Y and the kites fly perfectly fine. I don't have the feeling that the kites are changing their character.
