HP kite video ; ideal kite for surfers ? - relaunch from water

I have been asked by my friend Stephane Saada if the HP technology would allow to make his dream kite, so I made a first test... There is a fifth line with 3 bridles on the center strut. I unhook and release the bar. The kite becomes auto-zenith with low power. After surfing a wave with the kite in this situation, you would grab the rope connected to the bar, hook the chicken loop then kitesurf again till the next wave

WOW!!!

That auto zennith looks cool! I can think of plenty of situations where that would be good and not just for surfing.

That’s cool!
But what happens if you crash “for real” with 20m lines and the kite rolls or flips over?
And a wave goes over it?

Also, riding 7.5 kite in 10 knots on such short lines is very inpressive, but keys to this are also rider weight, and board details.

I really am intrigued by the auto zenith canopy “morph” although i have loved the simplicity of 4 line kites for the last 6 years or so...

kitesurfing with a surfboard, the kite really dictates where you go and what you can do, mostly related to being pulled off the wavewhere you want to be.. a change would be a good thing

i have wave ridden with my 5th line cleated off by 1 or 2ft , its not quite like this but it works

@Bruno. Congratulations for your good work opening a new trail.
At 00:21 you relaunch your HP kite in shallow water. How is it to relaunch in deep water ?

Having the kite radically change shape opens so many new doors on depower levels... I can't even imagine.
And autozenith is golden in waves (there's no better feeling than resurfacing after being worked and finding your kite waiting for you over your head!)

We may be on the cusp of a revolution!

Replying your questions :
My weight is 72kg and the board is a Tiki by Takoon, it is very long and has good upwind ability.
I just spent 1 hour on the auto-zenith test. Preparing the lines, trying twice, adjusting the bridles then the third test was the video taped one.
I can't say if it will work fine in waves. Will it follows well ? Is the depower enough ?
You can see that when I relaunch the kite, I don't walk back, so the relaunch in deep water was possible, but I don't say that it will relaunch with 100% success. It's just the first proto that I ride with and there are many things to be improved.
Several brands contacted me and I hope that interesting developments will happen in the next months.
I'm happy to help brands and amateurs to develop such kites.
