From the beach on Friday I would say Kevin still has the edge for height, and to some extent style, plus he almost always lands his jumps, and he has an advantage being in Heat 6 because if they start the competition a little too early, the wind will only fill in later, which suits Kevin (remember last year he was in an early heat, the wind was too light, and he was almost knocked out of the compeititon). I think Hadlow would prefer lighter winds so he can do more tricks close to shore where they play well. Same for Jesse. It's going to be another great day here today, so by the end of the afternoon we will have yet another preview of these riders practising at Kitebeach and Dolphin beach.
I think they prefer to do it two days in a row, given all the road closure and so on. They would love to do it on a weekend. Right now Thursday Friday seem maybe feasible.
What a great day! Only downside was the waves were tiny. I did a downwinder on 9m and strapless, then again on 7m, as usual saw a few sunfish or molamolas and seals, but sadly no dolphins (there was a large pod cruising past Sunset Beach earlier). When I got back to Kitebeach it was blowing hard so I had a 7m and TT session. Right at 5PM, as you can see from this graph, it ramped up seriously, and I got a little scared and quit, leaving it to the hotshots, as did most others. As I walked up the beach, Kevin Langaree was walking down with 9m Pivot and proceeded to put on a hell of a show, jumping way higher than everyone else. They could easily have had a bunch of KOTA heats today. This system is moving east, so the Easterlies will be nuking at Struisbaai, Witsand, and Stillbaai tomorrow, so that's where I will go, then Tuesday is NW at Kitebeach and will be really good down at Platboom at Cape Point.

Thanks for the update! Today around have been great. Hoping it's on a weekend or else I'll probably have it running on my computer as I teach. Any other KOTA riders out with him?
I believe that video was from Friday early afternoon. Note the wind direction in the graph from today, it was not the typical SE, but slightly SW, had a whole different feel to it, really intense.
