I would say i have to ride the board and see where my front feet steps , where is the point where a step to change feet etc and then stick the pad on that spot when the board is dry.

If it's a normal length kitesurfboard from 5'8" to 6'2" place your rear foot in the middle of front and rear fins and from there , add your prefered stance ( 46 cm to 52 cm inside to inside foot) depending on your height and board outline and length...never pass the wider point of the board outline....boards with hips forward add few cm to the stance....more or less you've spotted the front pad...

Surfboard wax comes off easily with common paint thinner (and this doesn't damage your board). Then wipe the residue away with alcohol. It is critical that the board be very clean.
If you are in a cold climate try to find some place warm to apply the pad. The adhesive does not stick well if applied in cold temperature.
