Kitesurfing & Family - the best spot?

Postby ar2r » Mon Dec 31, 2018 2:37 pm

Hello,
I know there is a lot of topics about spots, but I think that a lot of people have the same problem as I have since I have 2 (4 years old - twins) child and non kiting wife.
I'm looking for nice spot & hotel witch fulfil the criteria below:
1 - spot is next to the hotel (max. 500m) sic!
2 - hotel next to the spot have a lot of attractions for small children (4-6 yeas old)
3 - wind conditions in July and August are good
4 - the price is not out of space :)

I have already made a research and on my list are:
1 - Egypt: Marsa Alam - Hotel Royal Tulip Beach Resort - spot is 100m from the hotel beach + a lot of attractions for children
2 - Egypt: Soma Bay - Hotel Caribbean World Soma Bay - spot on the hotel beach is not the best but Sufrmotion is about 2km (too far) - a lot of attractions for children
3 - Egypt: Soma Bay - Sentido Palm Royale Soma Bay - spot Surfmotion is 300m but the price is not the lowest & little of attractions for children

please help me, I'm looking for yours opinion and other places :)

Marsala Alam is very hot during summer.

I can recommend Robinson Club Soma Bay.
It is a German Club, but everyone speaks English.

They have child’s program during the whole day...and lots of attractions and things to do.
Also very good sport courses for your wife etc.

The spot has a shuttle that goes every 60 or 30 min to the 7 BFT Kite center.

Been there several times and really liked it.
But, not cheap! But you get a lot for your money.

Food is excellent too!

As an alternative check hotels in El Gouna. There should be something child friendly too, but not like the Robinson Club though.

The Viva Wyndham Tangerine in the DR has gotten good reviews for kiters with family.

If you are more set on Egypt then also take a look at the Dahab resorts, the kite beach is literally right in front of them.

In northwest Rhodos you will find a number of hotels close to kitespots. I have been there last Oktober and it was good, I was told in July / August it is super wind reliable.

Cabarete, DR? Not sure if the summer is their windy season, but there are some great spots on kite beach and a ton for nonkiters.

Hotel FeelViana, 40mins north of Porto in Portugal. 100m from the beach and a great hotel, plenty of family activities too (cycling etc). Summer thermal wind (Nortada) is reliable and side-shore. Just stayed there after Christmas.

I agree about Rhodes and Tenerife. For Rhodes, this shop is where the hotel beach-front kiting is http://www.kiteprocenter.gr/ (no affiliation). In Tenerife, you want El Medano. In both places, you can find hotel pools for kids and other activities to keep everyone happy, plus wind (almost) every day in August.
