Kiting Fatality in Cayman Islands

Postby Windstoked » Thu Jan 03, 2019 12:24 am

I don't know any more than what the article says.
One of my son's co-workers knew him and that's how we found out about it.

Condolences.
Most people don't realize that flying a kite upwind of buildings can be very dangerous, even in light winds. If the kite gets in the rotors setup by the wind, an instantaneous lofting can occur that is nearly impossible to control unless reaction is immediate.
(Speaking from a survived experience)

This looks like the same accident that has been already reported here: https://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2401530
