Cabrinha Moto

Postby rleshem » Fri Jan 04, 2019 2:14 am

Hi All

Any reviews of the Moto. Especially versus the switchblade.

Looking for lower bar pressure faster turning with good jumping abilities. The description of the Moto sounds good but wanted to get some user feedback.

I have ridden the 9m Moto a couple times. I find it to be a.....................confusing kite. It is not bad by any means, it is just a little weird. It seems like a kite that does not know how it is supposed to fly. It is very quick turning, but it is not a big jumping kite. It drops you fast from jumps. It also tends to surge downwind after jumps and kiteloops like no other kite I have ever flown. It does not drift down wind, it surges. It tends to fly forward in the window when driving upwind and then back in the window as soon as you let off even a little. It feels stable and a little unpredictable at the same time.

It is a weird kite to fly, not bad, just weird.

I am used to Pivots, Switchblades for my freeriding. Boxers and Airush Ultra when foiling or surfuing and Rebels, Hyper and Edges for big air sessions.

To me it is a mushy feeling kite. Like its aimed for beginner lessons. Less bar pressure than switchblade but the newer switchblades have moderate bar pressure anyway.

Switchblade is such a precise, do it all kite. Moto doesnt seem to have enough performance for twin tip riding. Maybe for foiling or surfing when the kite almost becomes secondary.

Moto is not just rebranded Radar with some design small tweaks?

The Moto is very far from the Radar. Start with shape of the kites, they are different. But they don't ride the same. The Moto is not for beginners or lessons. rouge-kiteboarder's comments are most similar to my own.

So, compared to switchblade, ozone enduro v2, slingshot Rally, which one do you choose? And why?
When reading Iksurfmag it seems as ozone enduro v2 is the winner?

I'm not a big believer of buying a product because a magazine says to get it. I have met the testers, I place ads with the mags, etc. There's no such thing as "unbiased". I have also been on many beaches and watched thousands of people try Cabrinha and other brand products over the years. The best thing to do is go try them yourself and make a decision that you feel good about. I wish you the best on this journey!

oh man can you please stop repeating same on same on "best to test gear before you buy it" great advice from cabrinha dealer, one of the biggest if not the biggest kite manufacturing company which has loads of demo days.
It is virtually impossible to demo all kites you consider to buy as most of the spots will have particular brands which doesn't mean you have to buy something you can only demo.
Second thing what are the chances you can ride back to back on the same days two different kite models in similar conditions? Another thing is that kite will behave differently in different wind condition, that's I would value more opinion of someone who has a kite for a bit rather than rode it once.
