if not potentially deadly, that is so goofy it would be hilarious. Glad it looks like no blood was shed.

At first I thought he was going to go through the screen enclosure. Gusty onshore winds, obstructions downwind with no room for error. Recipe for disaster.
Or maybe he was using the kite to pick coconuts...

Best part was when he hung onto the tree lol. Looks like he was holding on for the duration! Hard to punch out when you're death gripping a tree.

Could be older video or he is on old gear....Best bar & Best Waroo kite....dirty lake wind...you can spot the swirly gust coming on the water
Pretty crazy that at one point when kite collapses he is grabbing the left back line only to try to save it....as if !!!
Not sure if that bar had the old webbing loop you had to pull in order to open up the chicken loop from hook....as a quick release...or should i say... as slow release !!
WOW !!
It's totally coconuts !!

Never touched the quick release through the whole thing even at the end while up on the tree he looked like he was reaching for a beer or cell phone .
or sumthin . Its the Same deadly scenario over and over its the reason people get hurt or killed they for some reason have a fear of using Their Quick release. Folks get it through your heads --PUNCH OUT FIRST and think aboout what went wrong later u really only have 2 seconds . u cant hold the power of a kite that launches directly in the power zone without getting tossed around and with that initial fall u loose complete control of the kite and everything goes downhill from there .
