So, I am pretty much set on getting the kite, but then I noticed that Cab recommends a really long bar (65cm) for the Contras.
I would like to get the kite to turn quickly, but do I then need to buy a new bar as well or would my current 52cm bar do it, please? Contras are said to be pretty nimble especially the 13m and 15m, but is this only due to this extra wide bars?
Also, is there a big difference in low end between the 13m and 15m for 80kg (170lbs) rider with a surfboard?
Thanks very much!

Been kiting on a friends Cab 15 with a 46cm bar! Flies pretty nice...not super swift but does the trick. Especially nice for freestyle. Think 52cm would do but all depends on your expectations.

52m works fine with sb 14m, to make it turn faster you just pull bar more aggressive

When I had a Contra 15m I flew it on a Slingshot Sentinel 20" bar = 51cm no problems. Slingshot said the lines were 23m but when I measured them they were actually 24.60m which was a nice length for the kite.

I had older 13m and 15m Contras.
Loved the 15m. I believe they are higher aspect now and that sounds like a great evolution.
52 bar may feel a bit small, 56 was fine for me. One of these would have you covered;

Hope you enjoy your new kite!

I like to use my 60cm cab bar for my 15, 17 and 19 Contras. For the 15m it works great. My 15m Contra is my fav kite behind my 12m Switchblade.

if you're 170 lbs, i'd go with the 13M, not 15M. I'm about 200 lbs and the 13M Contra did everything the 15M could do, but better. BTW, the Contra will never turn fast, regardless of what bar size you use, but it helps to use Cab's biggest.

I demoed the 15m Contra on a 52cm bar it turns reasonably well for a big kite it's not super fast but good for a 15m. A 60cm bar will make it turn faster but it also will require more pulling force so that may get your arms tired faster. I use a 50cm bar on my 15m GTS LW and it's more than enough but it's a very fast kite. I use a 60cm bar on my 17M Roca and that works good!

Hi omg, for sure there is a difference between the two. Personally with a surfboard at 185#, I wouldn't go bigger than the 13m, but it depends on how light of wind you want and whether you like to ride more or less powered up. The 13m also works super well on a foil in the light stuff, if you are into that. For me, less powered and B setting allows me to turn the kite off easier when beating down ankle biter surf. B setting ads more pull from the arms, but less from the harness. Less pull from the harness allows more freedom in the hips for better surfing. Feel free to PM me with questions.
