Mystic Elevate Boardbag

Postby keviene » Tue Jan 29, 2019 8:18 pm

Do anyone have this bag?
I was wondering if it would have enough protection. It’s more expansive than conventional bag but in the other hand it’s lighter and you could pack it up very very small.

Any thoughts on it?

We've been using the Elevate for a few years now but the Wave bag (Mystic no longer does the elevate wave bag)
It's awesome for travel cos it rolls up so small.
Plus the weight saved could be an extra kite

I don't own the bag but I was looking around for a kitebag 3 months ago and the elevate was one I had a closer look at. In the end I decided against the bag because it had no protection at all in my opinion, I don't really want to take off the wheels and put them into my carry on luggage and I didn't want to buy an extra board bag for my twintip (not sure if that would've been really necessary). I would've bought the 145 long version that comes in at ~3.35 kg with wheels. The bag I bought comes in at 4.9 kg and is 157 cm long and has an extra compartment to separate kites and boards. At the end I just thought screw the 1.5 kg.

Does the bag I have now offer more protection for travel? Not sure to be honest. Something sharp still pierces through both of them and normal airport abuse should be alright for both of them if packed correctly.

That's the new Mystic Elevate, there's no padding really to keep it lightweight, I've traveled quite a bit with this and it's holding up very well so far:

I also use it. For padding I wrap my board in a thin microfiber towel or wetsuit/lycra. You can also use belts to reduce its length (eg. on my recent flight the length max. was 120cm). I’ve never had to remove to wheels but I like the options to max out the availabile weight.

Thanks for the replys!
In two months i’m moving from Spain to the Canary Islands (well from the peninsula to the islands) and I do not have any boardbag, so the idea s to buy the elevate and when I get there pack it very small below my bed or something (I think i won’t have so much room to store things...) and eventually use it for some trips

It will work for that mate, it's not as reinforced as the "Golf Bags" but mine survived 8 trips so far (with 1 small rip thanks to me being an idiot and pulling the bag without the wheels). Enjoy Canaries :)

I use it as well, it's been on lots of trips without issues. I do wrap some pipe isolation around the board's edges and sometimes pad extra at the ends with some light foamy material. It's still lighter than a manufacured padded bag, which is the main attraction for me. Have a nice trip!

Does anyone know if you can fit 141x43 board in 140 elevate bag or would it be too much of a stretch?

I’m pretty sure it would be fine, the bags will normally take boards a few cm more than the size on the bags say.
