Cracked/creased 2016 cabrinha custom

Postby TRivers » Wed Feb 06, 2019 5:07 am

Glass hasn't cracked completely through on the top like it has on the base. Smaller one near the fin screw which hasn't cracked inside the hole luckily. Notice there's a faint crease on the base extending in from the crack - shitty photos, sorry.

Done a few surfboard repairs with epoxy resin, is it a similar process on twin tips? Been searching the forums & most people suggest epoxy for delaminations so I guess it's alright.

My question is should I sand down the crease on the top so the glass sits flat or just leave it alone since it hasn't cracked open & put two bigger layers of 6oz (all I've got at the moment) on the base to seal the crack & add strength. Dribbling some resin into the cracked rail also.

Greatly appreciate any ideas. Thanks

Yeah good question. Not sure, no gouges on the base from hitting a rock or anything & the fin's fine. Definitely happened on the water though.

God

you've posted this on the kiteforum as well as seabreeze? Really? People on the SB tried to help you man...Are you ignoring their help?

Is your board THAT important to cross post around the continents on the main kitesurfing thread, ignoring the KB/Gear Builders sub forum?

Get over it mate, it's broken...Just like your kite was. I mean, you are not really actively contributing to the community, just taking our time, not giving yours.

Thanks for that.

The force that has made that happen has been significant. I have owned and ridden these over the years. Never had an issue. If I had to guess it looks like it has been run over down close top the fin.
