Hpr: anywhere in the world this will happen if you leave valuables visible in the car.
Agreed, but it's still amazing how many people leave sunglasses in full view. Also we tend to rush to get on the water and might forget our phone, so just a reminder to always remember to check when locking your car.

And I never have to worry about gear stolen out of my car...I have my board and my 18...that’s it
Would love to have a one kite quiver and I ride my 9m most of the time but it's really nice to have something smaller in the car when it gets to 35 knots in the late afternoons. I think you would struggle with only a 18m in CT in season, or maybe not, maybe you can come challenge the WOO record here

I don’t need to kite all day. A good 1-3 hrs session is enough, then energy is gone. Remember, it’s trick after trick.
18 or chilling in the whirlpool
Where can one go if the wind is too strong in CT ?
I guesss with the powerful wind of CT I just need 20 knots.

Toby, if you go to Cape Town, you are NOT allowed to take your 18m, let alone only your 18m! We need you to live longer!

Shark bay might work Toby. It is near langebaan. Anywhere else where the south easter blows I would be too scared of the wind picking up too fast or suddenly which I saw happening a few times.

As Exal said Shark bay could work, the wind is always a bit less there and also seems 'softer', ie not so dense and potent. Also the southern Cape spots might work when the SE is blowing strong in CT - for example Hermanus and Struisbaai should have less wind normally. But I don't really know too much about the other spots cause I dont go there often since Table Bay is on my doorstep and I'm almost always disappointed when visiting other spots cause they just dont compare to a 30 knot 2m swell boosting session at Kitebeach

Just to add some detail that might be useful:
Hotels: in the last two months the Blouberg Beach Hotel opened right next to Doodles. That is the building that stood empty for many years and finally got finished. It is right opposite the beach. Not heard any reviews yet.
https://blaauwbergbeachhotel.co.za/hotel-information/
Of course if you prefer a setup with other kiters/windsurfers then there are plenty of lodges like ours.
Rentals: Cabrinha (in Big Bay) rent Cabrinhas; Board & Kite Africa (in Marine Circle) rent Eleveight. And we rent Duotone (Neos and Evos).
Any other questions let me know.

Howzit?
Where is your shop? I guess Big Bay?
In what direction would you recommend Kleinrivier lagoon or Botrivier lagoon?
Is Brandvlei kitable? I tried contacting their facebook site, but got no response.
What is up with the military stuff? Parkings are already closed everywhere.
Will kiting be allowed anywhere in Table bay on Thursday?
Thanks
Bernie

Bernie, the Duotone shop is pretty much the opposite side from the Board and Kite Africa shop, facing north, next to a sushi place.
I have not ridden on any of those vleis, but most directions seem feasible for them, but if there are hills upwind it will be gusty, for example, at Hermanus you don't want to kite on a NW or W wind, you need SW or S or SE, or E.
I believe Ramaphosa is giving a speech on Bloubergstrand, at least that's what I heard a week ago when I was leaving, so there may be a lot of security. Just go upwind or downwind, e.g. Sunset or Big Bay or further north. Better yet, branch out and go to Witsands near Misty Cliffs for strong SEaster and big waves.

The Harmanus locals say a Westerly work best at the Klein RIver Lagoon as it blows from the ocean accross the length of the lagoon. South or SE works as well but can be a bit more gusty and it tends to push you into the shallows. This is a GREAT spot though.
Botrivier is a bit more tricky and works best on a South or SE. You can kite on NW but it's gusty and unpredictable.
Brandvlei is a very popular spot in winter as the water is warm and the prevailing wind is NW. The NW can bring cloud and rain though. The South and SE is great as well - just check current water levels of the dam as there is a drought and it can get dusty
