Macster:

Agreed on queen of the air! But already cool they had an expression session!
And the French girl rocks...she rides aggressive like a guy. I am very impressed by her performance!

Maybe RB considers a two semi finals plus final format.
So 6 ladies have the chance to go for it.

I think it would be very inspiring for the female kite world.

Totally agree that Mark should have got through. But more impressively was that riding out was switch for him?! And he's still booting twice as high as I'll ever get!

[edit] Toby we should have a kiteforum award for KOTA most coolest trick or best session. Make an actual award (or buy a nice one) then we could vote on who to send it to. Or get one of the SA forum members to go give it to the rider!

Those jumps by Mark were indeed impressive, all the more so because they were done so close to the beach, although that video probably shows all the ones he landed, there were many more he did not land. And as he says, he got worked in the "Expression Session" before the semifinals. He was taking huge risks, including landing very close to the beach in shallow water from jumps coming into the beach. I think he did land the fifth attempt, just glad he did not get hurt.

Wow. All i am saying is that im really not a fan of putting handles on boards. And i admire that Jacobs can pull that off - even without a handle!
No need to be disrepectfull calling people nobodys and not on top  And yes those KOTA guys are really highest level and I will never ever get even close to that. Way to old as well  I do ok-ish hooked kiteloops with my 8 though. But just the tought about adding rotations makes me nervous

i propose a handle with built in bearing so the board can spin like a fidget spinner.

No limits.

I mean in the video to me it doesn't look even close to as impressive as the riders that were inthe final. I dunno too much about new tricks or not, but the scoring criteria are clear in KOTA. You get paid for height.

It also looks like he has shorter lines than the kiters in the final, which would lead to more extreme looking jumps, but lower and much easier to land. I dunno tho.
I am obviously a fan of Langeree and Richman so there is that.

The difference is the trick timing with the loop. Imagine how much harder and riskier it is throwing a megaloop and flying sideways while you take your board off and rotate as opposed to loop, control, dangle your boardoff/rotation- using a handle. The line angle in the photo should make things clear.

Plus marc has some sick style when he throws things.

yup you get paid for height, did the scoring sums.. progression is a waste of time - shame.

Was marks trick impressive? yes.
Did it get high scores. I guess not.
Why? It didn't meet the main judging criteria which is height. It lacked height compared to the others.
Its no RB's fault that Mark chose to showcase a lower level technical trick in a boosting comp.
The rules are clear and well stated before the event. Riders have ample time to practice a style to suit the event rules.
It seems a weird crusade that you are on. Attempting to persuade people that a competition should be changed to suit one particular riders style.

PS. As this is the most watched kiting event on the planet I guess rb has got the recipe right.
