I don't quite get the comparison. They are meant for different things I think. GoPro could be better for improving your kiting but to see WOO outside of the scoreboards and the whole community thing doesn't paint a complete picture. There's also the freestye/wakestyle mode as Deniska mentioned, which apparently and surprisingly very few people use but as someone said before, WOO is a game. GoPro not so much. If you don't like the game, no point in getting a WOO.

right tools for the right job...
sometime gopro tells your story better.. like this time woo did not show anything to compete with everyone else's lawn mowing session..

other times you look at your FPV footage after a good session and it just does not look that exciting on gopro (at least w/o some visual aids like speed gauge)
the woo says I got 13+m and apparently I was flying directly downwind at 30mph on that jump.. but on gopro from FPV angle it does not look much different from a 5m jump..

I think you got the premiere...since when does WOO has a detection on speed?

I kind of equate the Woo to Strava for mountain biking.
After a month of riding my bike like a nut just to shave a few seconds off to win a virtual trophy I realized it kind of sucked the fun out of it.
Sure it has other uses and I think it's intentions are primarily for enjoyment, but people take competing with these little devices all too seriously at times.

In a perfect device, the GoPro will tell you your jump height.
(wasn't Hero 7 supposed to incorporate GPS for height and track log?)

As I age, I'm finding the less shit I have to plug in the better.

We are not all millionaires. Saving $100 or $200 by not buying a GoPro or woo matters to some of us. I think it's better to skip the woo (or skip both). Hard tho to reisist if you love gadgets. The GoProv 4k knockoffs are coming down in price so they cost about the same sj8 is only $90 right now from sjcam. If you are rich go for it buy all the gadgets but I try my best to stay away from the woo game.

I use both most of the time. For me the fun continues after the session is over when I have my Woo 3.0 and taken some good footage.
Its also interesting to compare the Woo result with your video.
Usually it seems to be correct.
To get good footage with your action cam you need to get as close as you can.
Here are some example shoot on my Yi 4K. I shoot in 1080 120fps.

sjcam is a solid brand of chinese knockoff but they cost about twice what the other knockoffs cost. I think it's worth it.

If you refer to my screenshot, the speed gauge is fed by GPS data from a gopro.
Starting with GP5 they all record it (although you may want to disable that to save the battery.
If you load your vids in gopro QUIK you can visualize that GPS data (mostly for speed and direction..
Having the speed tracker chart tool is sort of usefull for quickly getting to the jumps and fun stuff w/o seeing all the lawn mowing.
You can just skip forward to speed spikes..
