Hello,
I am looking into getting a kitefoil. I already surf foil. I have a custom Kings Surf Foil specifically for surfing. I have been looking into getting one for kitefoiling. I live in San Diego where winds are not strong at all. It has almost become a must have in order to get out more often. What are your guys’ thoughts on the Liquid Force Impulse and which mast do you recommend? Any feedback is welcomed and appreciated. Thank you in advance

The impulse is a very popular foil among kiters. It has tons of lift and is super stable. If you are an experienced kiter and surf foiler, you can probably learn on a full length mast though many find it easier to start on a shorter one.
If you go with an Impulse, it is best to purchase a “current” wing. The first batch delaminates (covered by LF warranty)

Hi
I am new to foiling and use the impulse foil with the long mast and the Galaxy board. And it works super fine for me. I know a lot of people there use the short one here in the beginning. maybe some one in your area has the shot mast and not using it any more.
But LF Impulse is not a bad choise.

I ride the Kanaha Shapes 37" with the LF Impulse and a 30" mast, I prefer the shorter mast simply for maneuverability. Excellent for kiting but I am not sure its the foil I would buy if I was just learning. Its great once you start learning to Jibe but when you are just learning to stay on foil I would use one with less lift as you will get over powered very quickly. Since you already have surf foil experience I suspect it will work well for you.
If I was to buy a new foil today I would look at the Moses 590 or 633.... or I would by the new Cloud9 22" (which is identical to the impulse but 2" smaller) FYI Cloud9 designed the impulse for LF, also I have been told the manufacturing process of the Cloud9 foils is superior...(just what I heard)
Here is the link to the new release on their new offering.

Sorry to hijack thread, where should the impulse foil be placed on a surfboard for strapless kitefoiling and wakefoiling. Mounting on a 5'4" space pickle.

Never used that board but I ride with my back foot almost centered over the front bolts... I'm 180lbs and that trim works well for me. My stance is roughly 26" wide from outside of my feet and I stand somewhat diagonal across the board

All foils should be placed so the your center of mass is directly over the center of lift of the foil (usually center of front wing). So it all depends on where you want your feet to be.

I ride an Impulse wing and really enjoy it but event if my mast is way back , my back foot is never back it's kind of over the front inserts of the back foot, Do you have the same issue ?
