I’ve just had 2 sessions on my 2018 17m Turbine and I’m quite impressed. You don’t see many of these where I kite on the south coast in the UK and I was put off getting one. However, after being the only person on the water (apart from my mate on his old 17m Turbine) I would say I’m pretty happy.

Not the most exciting kite, pretty slow to turn but more fun than sitting on the beach. I’m 110kg which may help, but had no issues going upwind. Saw the wind stats from the weather station and it was pretty much sub 15 knots during my whole session with gusts up to 20 knots. Didn’t touch the trim strap once.

I used to own a 16m Turbo Diesel years ago and that just felt like you were just being pulled by a truck. The Turbine was way more fun. Definite session saver over the past two days. Wouldn’t have got going on my 12m Rally.

Can’t imagine what that 19m must be like to pump up. I was on the verge of seeing stars pumping up the 17 !!

17m makes sense for 110kg.
Which board are you using?

I will add to my earlier review now, that the relaunch on the 19m is excellent. Very light wind, was riding but not powered, wiped out messing around, and kite relaunched almost instantly, deep water, no board, thought I was screwed, used my body as best I could to provide resistance. I was surprised.

First day, Shinn Monk 137x44, second session was on an old North Nugget 5’2” (I think, had in shed for last year, was first time I used it on Saturday, left my twin tip at home).

For someone who normally watches others on those days when the wind just doesn’t fill in, I just can’t fault it. Got it cheap even though it was brand new (old stock). Was a bit worried about getting over powered quickly, but even in the gusts I felt okay. Seemed to work better keeping the kite a bit higher in the window.

I’m sure there are better, lighter, quicker turning and more responsive kites out there, but not for the price I paid for my Turbine.

We have a Turbine 19m that gets used for lessons when the wind is really marginal. Mostly b/c if there's enough wind for that kite to fly, it will relaunch. Just a couple of weeks ago, I had a guy (180 lbs) get up and get his first real ride on the board (Litewave Wing 165) using that 19m Turbine in 10mph! That guy was super stoked and I have to say I was, too. I personally prefer something more responsive than the Turbine, but it is a surprisingly good jumper (if you can hold your edge long enough to get the kite high in the window) and goes upwind just fine. If conditions/preferences dictate that you can't foil, it's a pretty good option. And more time on the water is good, right? ;)

I am 110kgs and often use my Edge 19 with 32m lines.
If anyone can kite with a TT so can I, most of the time I am the last one in. My board is a SS Glide from 2006 with only heel side fins and 4mm rocker, I love this combination.
