Naish Dash

Postby BillyGoatGruff » Mon Mar 11, 2019 9:25 pm

Currently riding Naish Torchs (7/9/10/11 & 14m)... Tried a firends Pivot the other day and was blown away by the boosting and float, but found the Pivot poor unhooked and slow turning. The Dash looks pretty sweet and I'm looking for a new 7 and 9m to fit with the bigger Torch's (89kg/134cm Shinn Monk - UK riding)

1. How is the boosting on the dash (height & drift)
2. Kiteworld review said the kite need plenty of wind to get powered up ?
3. How is the jumping compared to the Torch ?
4. Would a 9m cover 25mph to 40mph roughly ?

thanks

1. Smooth, more hangtime definitely.
2. Disagree about that. The kite feels light and it's technical.Compared to the Torch constant grunt could be misleading - def. better low end. Recently another test has been circulating around, they say the opposite... :)
3. Easier. Less punchy though.
4. According to me, absolutely.
Although it depends what is on the other end of the lines. :)
134 board is little smallish according to me.

Thanks Ludmil - Have you tried the Pivot ? How does the Dash compare boosting to the pivot ?

There's been a few posts already describing the Dash in detail, you can research those. I personally am a big fan of the V1 8m. When powered up, it's a boosting machine. Compared to the Pivot, you need to get your timing right on the Dash. But when you do, you will go at least as high. Less float/hangtime though. 9m should cover the windrange you mention. V3 coming out soon so maybe wait for some new reviews or tests!

I've riden both the 2017/2018 Dash, the 2018/2019 Dash, and the 2019 pivot.
Not the Torch, but had 2016 RPM's and 2015 Fuels before changing to Naish.

The Dash is great for jumping/boosting, not as great as the Pivot, but much better than the RPM and Fuels I had. The Dash is much better at unhooking compared to the pivot.
The pivot has a bit more boost to it when jumping and a bit more float compared to the Dash. But lacking the unhooked performance. I'll definitely choose the Dash for my allround boosting, unhooking and freeride kite.

Correct me if I'm won't but is Jesse not in that video quite a bit or is that a different rider?

It's Jessie Richman, Ewan Jaspen and not sure who the other guy is (?). Looks a good kite, probably replace my 9m torch with a Dash.

That's what I thought. Does look like a pretty sweet kite.
