Just ordered a slingshot Alien air to learn foiling and tight for space in the motorhome locker. Wonder if it would be useable as a dual purpose hybrid skim type setup?

I have the Nobile Zen Split Foil and use it for both foiling and as directional. Having not much experience I can't compare, but I am happy with it so far.

I ride a Zeeko Slash 5,4, I work fine as a foilboard, and as a quad fin wave board.

Never tried it when I owned my alien air, but just going by how huge (thick) the board is... I can't imagine it being too much fun. Skimboards are kind of fun because they are super thin and easy to manipulate. Having no traction under an alien air doesn't sound too worthwhile to me. Just imo.
Btw if this is something you're interested in, there are foilboards that a skim style, the one I can think of off the top of my head is manta foils:

Nope. Foil specific boards have a combo of no fins and beveled rails. This leaves you with nothing to hold an edge.
There are plenty of boards that do work dual purpose though, just not the Alien Air.

Yes understood but i specifically wanted the alien air to learn on. Is there anyway a fin or fins would fit the track system?

Yeah, you could put windsurfing fins in the tracks, but your missing the point. The shape of the rails, the thickness the position of those fins, its all wrong for use as a board without the foil.... and not in a trivial way.
If you want a dual purpose board, there are a variety of options out there. The alien air isn't one of them.

The one area the AA does cross over on is actually prone foil surfing, so it does have some crossover abilities, just not kite powered ones.

The earlier version aa sure looks similar to the quad fin alien twister...
Since you already have the board, i don't see the harm in experimentng.

I was thinking that myself. I have a north nugget and its similar shape and size. Might be worth a try.
