shinn insert spacing

Postby edt » Mon Mar 18, 2019 10:08 pm

I know the old insert spacing is 155mm which is not compatible with the international standard (6 inches or 152.4cm). Did Shinn ever start making their straps and insert spacings at industry standard so we can buy other straps for the shinn monk for instance? If so which year? Thanks.

I had several Shinn boards and they all had perfectly standard insert spacing. Google it. Many people use Naish Apex foot straps on Shinn boards because same price and much better footstrap (I do). The boards are fantastic.

What year? I know there's a 2016 shinn monk my friend had that's 155mm or 6.1 inches. Maybe there's some slop in the Apex bindings so you can make it fit. 3mm is not that much but there are some bindings that won't work if they are 3mm off.

I googled it for an hour couldn't figure it out

Dundee (I forgot which year, the first year it came out), speedball 2013 and 2014 (the winged type)
I remember quite a few posts on seabreeze.com.au about naish apex on Shinn boards, that's where I got the idea to try it and it fit perfectly on my boards.

I put a pair of Naish Apex on a 2013 Shinn Monk 134cm. I currently have a set of SP Kiteboarding (I think they make the Shinn pads & Straps for Shinn?) on my 2014 Shinn Monk. I can measure the spacings later if it helps ?

North NTT fit shinn ronson as well (both 2017 and 2018 models).

Hi Eric,
All Shinn boards are set of 155mm as this is the European standard.
However normally it is possible to fit 6” straps to the boards.
Regards
Mark

I emailed Mark he told me it's all 155mm because that's the standard... Anyway none of my ronix boots fit on the shinn boards as they are 152.4mm and I don't like the slingshot boots. So shinn is not a good board to put boots on. All the wakeboard boots I've used are this metric m6 insert spaced at 6 inches.
