the top dog is defo the click in from Ozone but!!
the sliding rope chicken loop from the north/tone click bar is mega small and fits the ozone set up.
just one grub screw to release the ozone chicken loop and fit the click bar special small reinforced rope slider chicken loop,
now you have the best set up, with ZERO wear on your rope and ZERO wear on your chicken loop, the Ozone standard click in loop is too soft for rope slider harness rope, it wears a groove into the hard rubber loop very quickly, which to mitigate the wear you can reverse the loop easily, but then eventually it will break.

The rope slider chicken loop on the left. The part code is there on the card, all click bar stores sell just the chicken loop.

Now this makes sense. One handed reset of the rope slider loop.

That is very useful

Looks like ozone licensed the duotone iron heart.

And there is a small change that adds a pawl to the cloop grabber metal doohickey.

Could be retrofitted from the looks of it.

The iron heart is tested and works unlike the wichard shackle.

reminds me of old times!

And still people didn't learn from the past...

The shackle you are using is DANGEROUS !
The loop or whatever you use will get stuck on your model.

The only safe shackle is this one: http://marine.wichard.com/rubrique-Swiv ... 00-ME.html

I lived through the no quick releases, making bars, rear line flag out(if any), and Wichard quick releases

Go ahead and use it if you want.

Personally, I won’t. There are plenty of good options now and small cloops with adjustable rear lines should be perfect for short armed riders.

I do worry that it seems some of the kite companies lost track of some basic safety tenants, red left for example, in their rush to bring out trendy graphics.

It also seems to extend to kitelines.

I don’t get why we can’t standardize in goof proof connections i.e. which has the knot at the kite.

Ok,

I'm with you. So, what is the problem with this particular wichard?
Sure, there are many options out there, but if you find yourself with a broken one, and someone offers wichard, would you say no? Why?

What is required is a QR that can be released with one handed push away (the de facto standard) but, critically, can also be re-engaged one handed. For example, both release and re-engagement must be achievable with one arm behind ones back.

We do this with car seat belts.

So it seems to me that having something like the seat belt metal tongue welded onto the spreader bar with the QR being a kitesurfing friendly push away version of the release mechanism (red in the below pucture) at the side of the seat would achieve exactly this.

If you put it on your spreader, it is pull to release and requires two hands with no load.

It has a small rope or line to grab which can take a moment to find.

I know there was some discussion about reliability under load but that might have been in regards to the plunger type.

It was also a bit touchy and could be released inadvertently

Like I said, I did use the Wichard because at the time as there were no other options. So if that was the only choice, I would obviously use it.

Some of the early quick releases were not much better and maybe worse being prone to jam, require large force under load, or prone to accidental release..

There is the French afnor standard that I look for in a quick release,

I feel like we are back to 2003 with this discussion.

That works only with very low load.

ps As it happens I use Ozone V4 bars, but not the CLs.
