North just wouldn’t pay the sle licence

That is the only reason the stayed on the 5th for so long
Nope, they had the fuse and evo on 4 lines. Still, there was a backstory on the sle licence thing that involved north and best.
Must have missed you when that discussion was taking place then, which distributor were you working for?

Stop being so quick to always be “right”

Both Naish and North were so slow to the Bow patent( never signed up to it) and then reluctant to the SLE

They both felt 5th was the way forward and eventually they cracked, Naish first with the shockwave then years later North

It was only market forces that pushed it home

I know you will pick apart every line of what I have written to “win” your point of view so do crack on but facts are facts
You are technically right on the timeline. But I am just saying that North has had 4 line SLE's for what, ten years? After which, they finally abandoned the 5th line offerings in bow/delta kites that were concurrent with their 4 line kite offerings. So my correction was only to clarify that while they were not paying the licensing, they were in fact in the SLE market on 4 lines for a large portion of modern kiteboarding's existence.

Again, I am not defending North. We just got off topic about the release, then lots more came up. And I never wish, or strive to be "quick to be always right". It is the argument and objective truth that has validity, not me. The argument should stand on it's own.

Well, I'd like to hear about 13m performance. If it had windrange as stated in specs, I'm interested. The V1 9m UL has exactly the " land use " range for me on hydrofoil. So my hopes are high. It would be perfect complement to the 9m.
I purchase the V4 bar 2 weeks ago and used it 2 sessions. I release the loop every session to connect to my SS ring on my rope slider. It's outstanding and so easy to close. It's so good I want to upgrade my V3 bar.
If there was one complaint on the Ozone gear I bought, it was the V3 re-close of the cloop. I'd say it's impossible to close on the water.
My complaint now is the V4 upgrade is quite expensive..I wish they would give people who have a V3 bar some small upgrade discount if I can give proof of purchase.

I think you mean ButtsandMore not North......

....Even Flysurfer is now using the north release after how many of their much lauded attempts.....

Self refuting argument......still, good post and thanks!
It's just for humor with the duotone, north,bm drama. lol. But nice spotting there.

It (5th line) remains to this day, the safest flag out system.

For LEI maybe, and for some foils, but any single line rear or front works well on foils and is unmatched or something like ARCs.

Also, the release needs to be re-loadable in real world conditions for it to be of any use after activation.

Easy reloading is far over rated. The release should really only be used were reload is not even a consideration. You have accidental releases, but that is just poor design. You shouldn't be fixing a leaky bucket with another bucket.

I am appreciative of your response. But I call BS on this. Just with the safety maintained by reloading quickly and getting back under way quickly, in regards to innocent beach goers, your statement goes out the window.
I am not sure what you are calling BS on? I am mostly agreeing with you about 5th lines on LEI, but my limited experience lends me some doubts, for foils it is mostly true but single line does work and has worked extremely well on foils better than fifth in some cases like on ARCs. For foils my experience using flagging is very extensive, I trust them far over LEI especially when the release goes wrong.

As to needing to reload to save beach goers? Why? Why are you releasing with a threat to beach goers in the first place? A further question is why are you kiting with beach goers at all?

It''s the same design philosophy as to avoid needing an easy reload because of accidental releases. If you catch and handle the prior cause then no further creative solution is needed.

It's great Ozone have a easy reload, but it's one still a chicken loop ,and two a big bulky piece of crap, like most all other systems out there.

So, back to kite. Anyone flown the V1 & V2 back-to-back and can compare them? Any sizes but mostly interested in the 9.

Any significant differences in the the way they fly? Power for water starts, turning speed and drift? Low end for 70 kg and 1100 cm wing? Thanks
