F-One Bandit 7m windrange

Postby sspm » Wed May 01, 2019 2:43 pm

Hello! I was taking a look to the F-One Bandit 7m windrange provided by the manufacturer and it looks very different from other kites.
The large sized Bandits (9,10,11,12) have a windrange similar to Drifter, Core Section and other freeride wave kites. However, the 7m Bandit has a windrange of 25+ knots while the other kites mentioned start around 17 knots for the average 75-80kg rider according to the brands’ websites.
I am wondering if I should get a Bandit 7m or one or two sizes bigger
Can anyone that has a small Bandit (6,7,8m) talk about the windrange using a directional surfboard please?

I can easily get going on a twin tip from just over 20 knots on my 7m Bandit 12. Would be less on a directional, probably under 20 knots.

Bandit's smaller than 7m are more wave orientated than freeride (8m and above). Their wind range is similar to kites from other brands.

I own 4/5/6 and 8m. At 66kg on my Signature 5'6'' from 18kts+ I rig the 6m, if I use the Slice 5'1'' 16kts is the minimum.

Looks like the windrange suggested by f-one has a bottom higher than it really is. So I decided to pick the 7m size. Thank you very much for the replies.

F-one wind ranges are very weird. Quite apart from the excessively high low end of the small kites, the low end of the Breeze seems to be worse for equivalent sizes than other models, despite it being their light wind kite...I think they just make the ranges up randomly!

The Breeze is not a light wind kite , it's a one strut kite available in 3/4/7/9/11/13/15m designed to be used with a foil or surfboard. It is a fast turning kite with a slower flying speed. It's light weight allows it to also hang in the air and still be reactive in light wind.

I own 3m and 11m Breeze and it is true that power seems slightly less than say equivalent Bandit. 11m Breeze = 10m Bandit

The power delivery of the Breeze is also different to the Bandit. Bandit has more of a spike (better for jumping) whereas Breeze is very smooth and this is something that might emphasis the lack of power.

Hmmm...well F-one say it has ‘incredible light wind ability’ and ‘unbeatable low wind performance’ so I’d say that makes it a light wind kite in the larger sizes. They describe it as equally suitable for foiling, freeriding and wave riding.
