Buying advise: Crazyfly Shox vs Raptor LTD

Postby leeuwen » Tue May 14, 2019 7:39 am

Hello,

I am ready to get a new board.
Mostly I am doing some basic freestyle: jumping, backrolls and will be looking at other old school / hooked tricks.

I am looking at the crazyfly line-up and initially thought about getting a Shox board.
However, a local shop seems to have a deal where the Raptor LTD is very similarly priced to the Shox board which makes me wonder:
Would I be happier with the Raptor LTD board.

Biggest drawback would seem that it is quite a bit stiffer and lets just say my landings are not always that great ;-)
However compared to my current board (crazyfly allround) it has channels and a bit of rocker so maybe the difference with my current higher flex board is not that big.

Last but not least: any recommendations about the size?
I was thinking about the 140CM.
I am quite tall (1,9 Meter) which makes me prefer the slightly wider stance but I am not that heavy (between 70 and 75 KG depending on the amount of chips I ate).
Usually I am kiting between 12-20 knots and I am guessing the extra few cm would help on the low wind days.

Hope to get some non sales pitch advise here.
Thx!

I have the 136 raptor limited. Its an awesome board. Not hard on your knees at all. Super soft landings(if u do it right) Loads of pop. Fantastic all round board. Hexa Bindings are absolutely fantastic too. The wider your stance the harder it gets.

I have a 140 raptor limited, as gisbon says, the boeard is super suft in the landings, mows though chop and has a nice grip.
As for the size, all up to your preferences, but if not an advanced rider i ll stick to the larger size (140)
