The best bag for kite gear? The blue Ikea bag?

Postby kiteswede » Thu May 16, 2019 7:26 pm

Yoo

Which bag or box is the best for kite gear? Have you found any smart solution for packing your car?

Ive tried a big plastic box and it is waterproof. And also the organization looks nice in car. But the downside is that its not good to carry and not good if you want to squeeze in as much as possible in to the car. No good handles for carrying.

The big blue Ikea bag: easy to easy to squeeze in more gear in the car. Not that waterproof after a while. But easy to carry. Very cheap to buy new one.

They have a zippered version that also works as a backpack, that is what i use for my kites and also my wetsuits. Amazing value(4 euros) and good quality, also super light.

Things fall out of the open ikea bag too easily.
Thw zipper one looks better. I use flexible rubber tubs in the car -durable and waterproof, a big one holds kite plus bar harness wetsuit etc.

I use both bags from Ikea too.

Cheap and does the job. Breaks after a while of use, guess the sand, sun and salty air is not the best combination for it.
But in northern hemisphere it should hold longer.

I use the open bag for all accessories, while I use the zipper one for my kite. The zipper version can be used as bag pack with its straps on the back.

The open version has bigger handles so you can easily carry it on your shoulder.

Tubs, 50-70L size typically, soft and flexible but stand up well, many versions and colors available:

This, except mine is square and has Mickey Mouse handles.

The kites go in their packs...

I use a North Core changing pad with drawstring. Has carrying handles and is water tight. Added advantage is it's easy to clean.
