Sorry to ask what’s probably asked a thousand times, but I was hoping for some comparability advice

I’ve got a 2014 Slingshot Rally 14m which came with a similar age Compstick large bar with 27m lines

I’ve just bought a new RRD Global 8.2 with 23m lines to use with my other kites

Given its new I’d love to use it with the slingshot, and it seems that both bars have four equal line lengths and I can swap the pigtails around to make it work. Both bars also release onto a single flag line.

I’m a beginner so am being ultra cautious about getting my kit right, but just wanted to triple check that (based on these great tables above!) I’d be fine to use my RRD Bar on the Rally? Seems sensible to use the new bar whenever I can!

Thanks in advance
27m lines are somewhat “lightwind length”. The 22-24m lines are considered regular freeride lines and that what you should be riding normally. Switching between line length will be messing up with your timing for jumps and tricks, yet long lines have some advantages (flying above turbulence line, lightwind, etc)

Thanks for this. My inclination is to use my new RRD bar for everything, I’m just trying to get some reassurance that it will work on the 2014 Slingshot Rally 14m

The slingshot lines are labelled as 27.65m Front, and 27m Rear/Steering. I’m pretty certain that it’s just because of the bar having line leaders on the rear lines, and that the net effect of this (and indeed all four-line bars; including my RRD Global 8.2) is to have four equal length lines by the time they get to the pigtail attachments. That’s certainly what I seem to be finding when laying it all out.

It would just be great to hear from others! Thanks

If you connect line ends to a static point and tension the lines, the chickenloop will push against the bar (when trimmer fully “powered”), or would leave 1-1.5” gap at most. Should be same for both bars.
The Slingshot has messed up construction where rear leader lines and combined depower line assembly are different lengths and so they use proprietary lines of different lengths (rear-center compared). Yet when assembled it all makes same bar as others.

Thanks - that’s really helpful
I did try both bars/lines yesterday and that’s what I found, I just didn’t want to trust myself and put the RRD bar on one day on the beach only to find that the 65cm is important and I’d somehow made the kite unusable or unsafe!

So all four line bars should have it so that when the lines are under tension and the depower is “off” the chicken loop is either at or within a couple of inches of the underside of the bar?

Precisely

Hi ALEXEYGA - First Thanks for your chart. It's very useful, as was your previous one a couple of years ago. :thumb:

I want to know if my Core Sensor2 bar will work OK with North Neo 2018 & 2019 kites.

(got a bit confused with North/Duotone)

Cheers Newman

It probably flies ok, but the flagout setup won't work on Duotone kites so it isn't safe. Leaving you with too much power after ejecting in strong winds.

As a follow up to this do Core kites work with low V single front line flagout bars? (RRD global bar in this case). Not bothered about pigtails

in case anybody wonders (but actually it only confirms what chart from 1st page says, so no big surprise here):
switchKites bar (C5X) works well with Elev8 kites (in my case: RS 2021 10 & 7)
