I don't know about the general public getting into wing surfing. I suspect it will be too expensive and too hard for them. I have friends who own and use a SUP, and really enjoy themselves, and never actually stand up. Sit Down Paddleboard?

For me/us, there's a chunk of wind we don't really use kiting. Gusty offshore-ish winds, dying lighter winds, and are-you-out-of-your-fucking-mind storm winds. There's also damp rainy days when I might be convinced to go out if I don't have to mess with a big kite and lines and all the stuff.

If the wing surfer lets me ride in these conditions then I'm up for it. I can see me getting a small crossover SUP foil board, a larger foil, and adding a wing surfer to the quiver.

The other thing is road trips with my partner. I generally don't take toys because it's too hard to make time to play and do tourist things and have room for gear in the car. Again, a SUP foil board and a wing surfer may cover any surf and wind options I encounter.

I agree.
Also consider that guys are sink starting on small foilboards.
Windy.
But there are videos of guys sink starting. There will be a lot of experimenting with wings.
Skimboarding too

The bonus is its simplicity.
Its not a “gear sport”
Wing
board
foil
leash

If price won't be crazy, I might consider to get me a wing like this, probably from Naish. Right now I have iRig on my SUP, but it requires too much rigging, because my SUP is not meant for windsurfing, so I have to use adapters and strap additional fins. And riding around with iRig is simply boring, limited with 8 knots of wind max, while those wings look like meant for wider wind ranges. So it would be cool to go ride somewhere on the lakes that don't have spots to launch a kite.

The first comment on Instagram say it all:

"60l! Wow, it must be great once he pops up!"

Hoping to pick up a new foilboard in the next few days..... pretty sure the craftsman building it said it was in the 9L range volume wise. Weighs 2.1 kg. In 12 knots loads of kitefoilers can pop straight up to foiling with an 8m kite and enjoy the maneuverability of a board less than 1/6th the size on a far more maneuverable wing. I'm all for slowing down and making it cruisey fun style, but a 60L board is a deal breaker. Hell, my surfboard is less than half that!

Sorry if an odd question, but what does the headline of this thread mean?

"Wingsurfing - Intel - forum topic?"

Not being native English born I don't know "Intel" from anything but the Intel Coorporation making ICs and CPUs and similar.

But assume it is slang for ???

As stated above , i see this as a great adiction to any quiver for cruisy fun style with a SUP ....if you also can use it with the same foil /board than for kiting it will be great !!!...
I personally was waiting for something like this to hit the market (too lazy to rig old kitewings!!)...can't wait to try it with longboards and surfskates ..there will be many inland and snow sports to mix with the i-wings...

....totally agree.
There are many ways wings can be used.
DEFINITELY NOT replacing kiteboarding for me....or anyone.
But brand new---exciting--- who knows what people will do?

As a kid I would set up a windsurfing sail in the yard and play with it all day-----and I am sure people will have fun just playing with these wings on the beach, on a skateboard, skimboard, skis, snowboard, mountain board.

Simplicity is key.

Holding on to the wing and standing on a board means all is connected ---and no lines strings or harness.
Every movement and change is directly connected to you.
Truly more like a simple surfing experience.....as crazy as it may look.
