Went kiting yesterday, there were 3 of them already at my homespot.
I didn't expect to see any of them. They got popular faster than I could imagine.
I'm not really comfortable with the fact that they have a huge blind spot, the wing is blocking a big part of their view.

Why can't they make it out of monofilm like this sail ?

The KiteWing was made out of monofilm. But good suggestion, as "stringless wingythingy's" don't seem to have enough fabric area to be negatively impacted from the additional weight that Monofilm would add. Kites, on the other hand, are severely affected by being made entirely out of heavy cloth.

Monofilm is too fragile, probably. Good point, though. One of the things I don't miss about windsurfing it's having that rig blocking my view.

You were correct!
That 4.6 Kitewing is not monofilm (apart from the windows) and has reinforcement sandwiched between two monofilm layers, so it is a heavier version (but more robust). They have said they are checking out a 4.6m water version (which would have a foam float added and change the battens at least for fibreglass ones). It might have more power than an inflatable, as a trade off for the extra weight.

The Kitewing was used with a strapped kiteboard (but not with a foil) as far back as 2007.

You can easily see through the windows on the duotone. Monofilm is too fragile

SPG got mega back logged
Mine is coming July 12 ish.....almost everyone who expected to get theirs by end of June will get them closer to mid July.

Anyone who orders now will also get it within about 48 days. (August)
....they said they had to make them in batches according to color etc which makes sense.
Ran out of green and now they put up blue. Anyone who ordered a green earlier will still get theirs-- *whew mines green*

Heres sneak peak pics. Made in The Ullman sail loft manufacturing facility in Cape Town.
Im impressed with the quality of the build in the photos.

Can still place an order with spacesticklab.com for August delivery
