Canadian Hole Haulover day use

Postby beebad » Thu May 23, 2019 9:54 pm

So i read last year i thought that the park service was expanding the parking and access for kitepoint and canadian hole to make it safer to park. Does anyone know if this second parking area was ever built?

They're building a new parking lot at kite point. Should be done by now.

Canadian Hole/Haulover has had a nice paved parking lot for years.

The new lot is at Kite Point, and it is finished. I parked there a few hours ago for an afternoon session. It's a crushed shell surface, which is fine, and the lot is large enough, with a single access off of Hwy. 12. There are no other facilities at Kite Point, but there are outdoor showers, basic campground style bathrooms, and changing stalls at Canadian Hole. The new Kite Point lot (opened a month or so ago) is great for getting vehicles off the shoulders of Hwy 12. It is a huge improvement.

I read another article about REAL trying to buy that area to setup shop but i am glad that didnt happen.i could never figure out where was really safe to park there at KP.

Do you know how deep those rectangular holes are Off KP? I read a disturbing storyanout bull shark monsters but have never actually heard of shark attacks in the sound..... thanks again

Agreed. Smells like rotten fish but otherwise awesome.

Well......the bull sharks are schooling now. Saw 5 of them just off Kite Point this morning. A guy came in earlier from a session and he was missing the front half of his directional. And the last time anyone tried to find the bottom of those holes, he never resurfaced. I heard they found his pinkie finger down around the Buxton hotels.

Did I mention how crowded it's been getting on the water with the holiday weekend approaching? :naughty:
