Reality is, even if you cut all the control lines away and just tried to recover the rigging and hardware, it's still an hours-long task from the point shown in the picture to get to where you're running new lines and getting the bar rigged back up. For whatever reason, I feel like I always reach the point where I mentally decide, "okay screw it, I'm just going to cut this crap off and start over with new lines," yet in 5 years of kiting I still have never actually done so and have figured out every single tangle I've gotten into, albeit sometimes under the influence of certain chemicals known to calm the nerves :jump: There must be something about hitting that, "time to cut," stage that forces me to re-focus and keep going to get it solved.

Glad everyone made it back to the beach safely though, I can envision 100 ways a situation like that could have been REALLY bad on the water.
