I am a beginner and love to make my table to guide me which kite/board to choose at which windspeed.
I am 90kg
7, 9, 12m North rebels
17m North Juice
North Spike 155cm board
North Select 137cm board
A few hints:
First off, as a beginner, estimating windspeed is almost not possible, and a hand held windmeter can be risky if you are not aware of how "wind" works in detail and have experience.
So always seek to ask others at your spot, if possible, whether your size seems right.
If not possible, start with a kite too small, and rig bigger if too small - just to stay safe.
Regarding your boards, use the big one only while learning, very simple.
Later you can change boards, if sufficient wind for a given kite you pick the small one, and if you can not hold ground use the big one.
If still not, pick a size bigger kite.
At 90 kg -
17 m2 use it when below 16 knots.
12 m2 when 16 to 21 knots.
9 m2 when 22 to 25 knots.
7 m2 when 26 to 29 knots.
As rough guidelines for now, so you should be able to ride without getting out in scary much wind.
Later you can ride in both less and more wind.
Dont use the 7 m2 for starters, as very risky if you are a beginner in this wind - but if you can ride some and have good kite control, no problem.
Hope this helps
