Been looking forward to this spreader bar for a couple months. From looking at the pictures it seems a bit overly engineered and needlessly complicated. I'm especially curious about the wing things and if they are worth the extra bother. Too bad it needs to be taken apart to change the rope. I'm keeping an open mind but first impression is so so.
Ok, took it apart. It looks pretty straightforward. Each rope is mounted on a different part inside.
That looks like plastic? Or is it iodized ALU? Can't tell...
It’s some sort of 3D printed composite. That doesn’t worry me. Everything else that attaches me to my kite is fancy plastics, too (lines, kite itself, harness shell, board). It’s all made out of high-tech plastics.
Once you get past the first couple of sessions and adjust for lengthening it should be fast and reliable, it is a little disappointing to see only one side moulded in plastic to protect your harness straps. We know mystic can and have done better.
Had my new stealth slider size 280mm in the mail on Wednesday but wasn't sure I had the correct size as it is smaller than the clicker 4.0 with hook. The large 320mm slider is larger by about 2cm than the L clicker.
Love this setup on the water while waveriding! Happy to move to the rope as it gives so much more freedom. I hear Mystic will bring a larger ring as for some chickenloops that have a thick endpiece, there's a possibility that the loop doesn't move through the ring completely.
Would it make sense to get Stealth with traditional hook even if you want the surf model? Just put your own rope in and keep the hook as an option. It looks to be the exact same otherwise.

I've been using a Jay (Dynabar) for many years with both the hook and rope attached, I only have the hook for when I'm teaching as it's a lot easier to take the chicken loop off a student and hook back in quickly....I'm tempted to do the same with the Stealth!
Changing the rope is pretty easy
Remove the back (4x Allen bolts) then you can see the back of the spreader , one end of the rope has a shrink wrap on it to keep the fibres together ; that’s tied in a knot . Other end is threaded thru a little extra locking device then knotted . Max 10 mins to replace . I opened it up to remove the ring as I have a metal wave chicken loop
Now just need some wind to test
you have to dig in between the rubber and plastic on top with a needle nose plier and tie a knot with the tips of your fingers, awful design
That's the 2018 C-Bar 2.0 version. The updated 2019 C-bar 2.0 comes with access ports for easy removal of the rope. I'm not sure, but I believe the addition of a hook is also new for 2019 version. Mine has the removable hook combined with a rope and access ports. It' looks like there may be a Tension Lever version of this based on this marketing, but mine has the twin-lock like in the photo on the right... https://www.ion-products.com/water/kite ... n/c-bar20/
I'll try and post some pics my C-bar ports. When I went to order my s-bar, the sales guy told me to hold out a couple of weeks for the 2019 version because of what exactly you stated about the "awful design" and the pain of replacing the rope.
