1st review of the 8 meter here
Hmm. Not the most useful review. I'll save people the effort of clicking on the link and summarise the review:

'Its different from the XR5. Its good for jumping. We are going to review it better later'

Nowhere near as useful as the Real Watersports XR6 review. @GraemeF are you able to confirm that the static grunt has decreased as RealWatersports suggests. That was the thing that stopped me buying the XR5.

No, I couldn't confirm that, we've had one balls out day, gusty as f**k, which is probably why the lads want to wait more clement conditons before commenting further, you can't guage an entire range of kites, on one size on one session on a blustery day like that.
I couldn't possibly comment anyway, what am I going to say? It's bloody marvellous buy the whole range! Which is why I like to get others with experience of other manufacturers, to comment and mostly they were looking for similarities anyway.

From my point of view, nobodys found anything negative yet, which is a good thing. No doubt there will be something, but, so far so good, what size were you looking at anyway?

Looking at a 9m really (though probably more later once I have had a chance to get used to it). I have had a few sessions on a friends XR5 - mostly when he was on his 12 and I thought my own 9m wouldn't be quite big enough.

I tend to regard the XR5 as about a size bigger than most other manufacturers which is why it suits my friends who are 15kg (35lbs) heavier than me. Was originally thinking of testing a Nexus to see if that had less static grunt but the reported changes (from realwatersports) to the XR6 make it worth a look.

Just seen that REAL review, they do seem very enthusiastic about it, they must have had them a bit longer than us.

I could recommend the 9 XR5 and thus the XR6 to anyone, I've not heard anything negative and must admit the 'static grunt' as you call it hasn't been mentioned to me before and I can't say I honestly noticed it, but the one word common to both reviews, is that the 6 is smoother in its power delivery, so that could answer your point.

One of our guys uses the 9 for speed kiting and just loves it's 'locked in stability' I'm sure he's going to be all over the XR6.

As for sizing I'm not sure if the XR series are larger or some competing brands are undersize, the cynic in me would suggest the latter since there are obvious economys in making a kite smaller than you say it is. I have heard it said the XR5 7 feels smaller than it should, can't say I've ever actually gotten down and measured one, they're not as easy to measure by hand as sails.

Anyway I'm confident you'll like it if you do eventually get to give one a go.
