What I am doing wrong there?

Postby girzul » Tue Jun 04, 2019 5:53 pm

Hi,

I am new to kiting, had multiple lessons with Core/F-One, and I am able to water start. I did everything myself from pumping to attaching lines etc on these kites.
Now I got demo kites (North Evo 12 and Mono 15) with a thrust bar.
I did checked the lines and all of them are same length when connected to single point.
But it looks like something is wrong with setup. Can someone please advice me what i am doing wrong there? (see photo)

Hard to say.
What is happening when the kite gets released?

Maybe the back lines are too long?

Do you have your depower pulled all the way in? I had this same thing with my Ocean Rodeo Rise kites. They are designed this way with very little bar pressure and are really sensitive to input. This is how they looked when you launched them. The wind would blow the steering lines out like that. They flew just fine, they just fly off the front lines.

Looks about right. The Trust bar only has one loaded center line up to the split point (The taught yellow line) and the red safety center line is loose when the kite is depowered. Your steering lines will also be loose when depowered and sheeted out, and may look even more loose with the kite on the ground.

Yes, once the kite has rolled on its side walk down wind keeping the lines reasonably tight and the kite will launch nice and gently.

someone is holding the kite but it is facing top down toward the earth, so it does not have power, you would need to the holder hold at the middle of the kite, with one hand and walk backwards,

that should tension both front lines, and the top of the kite should face directly away from you

if the back lines are slack still,

there is not enough wind, you are too far up in the wind, or your back lines are too long (front lines too short)

sometimes it can be caused by a bridle caught or wrapped where you can't tension all lines properly

good luck!

If he is far up wind, the person holding the kite appears to be far downwind which makes the task to raise the kite with one hand uneasy... Positioning and angle vs the wind is not actually the assistant's obligation.

When you don't have too much wind put the kite like you were to do a reverse launching if all lines are tensioned probably everything is ok.
