I'd call that ridge lift or riding some crazy thermal. It's not a standard jump the dude is getting hange time from. Its more like a snow kiting glide. I reckon there'l be some bigg ass hills downwind that we cant immediately see.
He's anchored or something because rider does not swing under the kite. Kite stays at angle to rider. Potentionally a friction wheel based line as it gives more line on kite loop.

Some one in the water swimming and attached by a long rope to him? if you see the vid there is a white cap way behind always following.
I couldn't find anything on the J Foil site to match what I've seen before, but I saw Damien Leroy once using a little tow foil tied to the back of his harness. It was self guiding, so as he generated power, it helped him slide perpendicular to the wind and he came out of the water. This looks like what that guy must've been doing. I wish I could remember the name of it.
dont knwo for sure but looks like a sea anchor, a french dude made one about 10 years ago - even had a self steering keel so he could try and go upwind too!
