....just checked out the footage from the Red Bull Megaloop. Looks sweet-as...big, big winds...big, big smiles on the kiters faces...big pints of Amstel like swell and waves (
).
Two years running ML has been big and exciting...and KoTA has been plagued by wind conditions...isn’t it time for a KoTA in a friendly-full-on on Atlantic storm? Kevin defending his crown in his backyard...enough wind for the C-kites to do their stuff, huge local support on the beaches...

Megaloop challenge runs on about 3 days notice though doesn’t it, it’s dependent on a big low pressure system at the perfect time
KOTA is all set up on a really long holding period isn’t it, I can’t see them flying it all in and setting up on a day or two notice

The Megaloop challenge looked like it was shot on Lake Superior in October. Dark, rainy, cold, shitty and the swell is a washing machine sloppy mess.
Cape Town has sunshine, clean swell and chicks in bikinis.....
So there's that to consider.

For big air with big kickers, nothing beats a strong Cape Doctor combined with 3m swell and 16s waveperiod. The problem of the last few KOTAs has indeed been the fact that they decide to have it in only 25-35 knots. They only have a 2 week window, which is not long enough to guarantee a serious Cape Dr of 45 knots with big swell. But when those conditions come through, they are better than a big SW storm in Holland - on a good day CT has the cleaner and bigger waves/kickers, more stable wind, and sunny weather.
