I don't race but I do like trimless bars for small kites. For larger kites I fancy using a running splice instead of a cleat. I realise it is a releasable ratchet and would have to be fiddled out; I can live with that. What I would like to know is how easily it straps in when riding fully powered. Anybody using this system?
tomtom I think anybody using this system will know what I mean. It probably won't be suitable for the majority but as you are interested give me a few mins to make a mock up and I will post a photo.
Im using exactly same system -so i think i know what you mean - with small modification to be really on-fly adjustable. As pictured - it is possible to depower but imposible to power-up again /without unload lines/. Depower is easy if ring which work as pulley is thick enough - im mean wire diameter. It has do be in proportion to line diameter - at least as thick as line so 5mm line 5mm wire. Otherwise it wont work. I make some pictures. Also you need more line on end and form some handle.

Also my system is so simple, clean and reliable that it will suit majority. Infact is it so simple that it look almost impossible than no one invented it yet.

Don't you need an extra strap sewn or spliced&sewn above the running splice, so when you pull it you release the tension in the running splice and inner rope runs up and you power up?
Thanks tomtom it does make you feel Duh! Why did I buy those cleats.
Nixmatters, yes it is a ratchet and it will only release if you depower the lines, I can live with that for my purposes. It may well be possible to rig a release system but I prefer to keep it simple.
