Howdy.

time for a new shorty. both of these 2019 models are $99.
2019 ION STRIKE ELEMENT SHORTY 2/2
2019 NEIL PRYDE RISE 2/2 SHORTY

Practically the same.... the ion says it is cut a little wider for solid athletic build..

Anyone own any of these and can comment on sizing? One says I am a small the other a medium.....

Thanks in advance

I can't say for sure regarding these shorties ... but my experience - I've owned NP & Ion wetsuits - has been that Ion generally makes a superior product. Shorties tend to be less critical than cold weather suits, but as with all types of wetsuits, the actual individual FIT is one of the most important factors.

The NP Rise is Yamamoto #39. None of the mainstream wetsuit brands use that high foam grade for their price point shorties.

The fit/sizing of NP and ION is different, but for a flatlock shortie it makes no great difference.

Spend a little more and get a GBS shorty, makes a world of difference. Need Essentials is only $110.

Seventh Wave does, but I guess they're not mainstream enough. Or night not for the definition of price point either not I think of it.

I got a long sleeve spring suit in March, got it in 2mm cos the standard 3mm seemed too thick :D used it down to 8'C air temp at the end of winter here, and it was comfy. Starts getting too much over 20'C, depending on water temp.

Great suit, very impressed. The Yamamoto foam is weird but good...

Yeah, that must be proper 2mm foam, close to 3mm with double lining! But it was GBS too, right?
ISURUS have their spring suits made with Yamamoto #39. But again, far and away from the price point of NP/ION flatlock suits.
