This obsession with gear is ridiculous, when can kiteforum get back to actual riding instead of being a kind of gossip sewing circle.

Out of 1000, this is how much this material will effect your riding > > > You will be poorer.

i have ridden a cloud (lighter than these) - super light, standard materials, and not excessively expensive.

Irony. Complaining about the obsession with gear, then praising a brand that has marketing practices similar to a cult.

I don't need any discussion about riding. I am perfectly happy with what I do and how I am progressing. I do need to hear about new gear, what it does for us and whether it lives up to the promises.

I would prefer to hear from people who have actually used the stuff and taken the time to understand it. It's easy enough to skip over the posts from the armchair experts.

I know nothing about that brand, i just took my friends kite for a spin. - it was very light and not too expensive, nothing like 50% more expensive!

It's a take on how kiteboarding has changed, count how many posts out of the last 100 are about gear, and how little actual riding discussion /riding videos /photos go down compared to what used to.

It's pretty sad IMO... I think there are too many armchair experts myself, maybe it is partly that time of year for the Northern Hemisphere.

Instagram is dominating kite content that involves actual riding and that is sad AF.

Agree in most cases mate, but with this one I have to disagree.

The confidence you have in this kite in staying in the air can help you in those times when you're usually "will I - won't I"

What? I thought that kiting consisted in hoarding gear until the end of the years! 😂

Will i wont i stop being a pussy and learn to handlepass

Seriously you all need to stop calling yourselves kitesurfers or kiteboarders and start calling yourselves kitesailors

If your not crashing your not trying and if your not trying your not progressing

Cmon guys here we have a real materials innovation that might actually save lei kites a shit pile of weight and we bitch about marketing and why the forum isnt all discussions about how to complete a triple handlepass?

Every other lei brand is hyping their “new” not new tech (that 9 times out of 10 makes kites heavier unless they are finally catching up to single strut “technology”). People discuss endlessly on this forum the difference between year 2017-18-19 blah blah blah on kites that are in fact the same with zero innovation. Why choose this topic for the hate when you have that?

Yeah it’s expensive. For now. 1st year. Duh.

OR clearly wanted to send demo kites forth to be tested by their dealers and regular people way before the full release, an admirable choice.
When one of those dealers or regulars posts an experience here, which is for now the only information available on the subject, I for one will not chide them.

Thank you to those who have posted actual use reviews, please keep them coming, with greater detail and video if possible.

Mylar and Cuban fibre - both failed... so not surprising. (well actually mylar didnt but that is another story)

If u gonna pimp, show some skills / footage, we don't need endless discussions on even more expensive equipment, that is the last thing kiteboarding needs right now.

People need to know facts, enough of this 'education" marketing in kiteboarding... eg should i shouldnt i hit the next section simply because i have a lighter kite - just bull$it.. people need to be educated to fly their kite not think it is some kind of hot air baloon drone cos it isnt and never will be.

Once again the marketers go after the vulnerable believers.

smaller lighter kites for travel . -tick (but at a very high cost)
may stay in air for a marginal moment being lighter in light winds - tick
less momentum when redirecting - tick (although some people like this in heavier kites - they can sit further back in window and fell more powerful through the turn)
for specialist light wind kitingh - tick - plus it floats unlike a ram air

I thoroughly object to companies trying to take an awesome sport and turn it into an expensive tech gear festival where customers think they can buy performance based on a companies marketing.

Windsurfing went through the same thing and it was destroyed - overtech - over expensive - planned incompatibility of components etc you see it more and more in kiting today - even down to borrowing a pump - "oh do you have connector number 6?" "no" "oh"

Well... being part of the few people who actually got to fly the aluula roam 10m last fall (on an hydrofoil), I must say I’m very eagerly waiting for the general availability of this material.

Based on my few hours flying the kite it will be a decent replacement for both my 12m soul and 10m neo. So overall not that much of an investment (granted I might be trying to justify the price to myself here...).

In the end any gear that makes for a fun day on the water is awesome. And for people like myself kiting in less than ideal conditions (gusty unpredictable light inland winds...) this seems to be the best leap forward since hydrofoiling (which was also blamed for high price tag).
It will not make my riding better. But more fun, safer, easier, I have no doubt. I can’t wait!
