You must have underinflated it. I have no such problem with mine. It's best kite I have ever ridden. Can't ever go back to regular kites.
Maybe... but I’m not convinced it was underinflation. given that i had a 90mn session after that self launch and the kite flew as good and stable as usual in gusty ~20knt wind. I self launch/land in the water most of the time So I’ll double check next time.
And I agree ☝️ that kite is incredible in terms of flight quality and pleasure.

It would be great if someone can do ‘blind testing’ of Aluula vs regular fabric.

I understand that Aluula fabric is intrinsically far stiffer than Dacron. Therefore for a given diameter a LE made with Aluula is far stiffer than a LE made with Dacron. Thus an Aluula LE diameter can be substantially reduced while maintaining required stiffness.
I believe, Aluula kite still can be folded into the bag. Therefore, the material bending and twisting resistance is zero. Which means that all the stiffness comes from the inflated tube buckle resistance. In other words, the only way to leverage greater tensile strength of Aluula is by reducing LE diameter, while increasing the recommended pressure. Again, 8 psi recommended pressure from OR website is similar to dacron kites. (It might well be an honest mistake of OR stuff being lost in the Aluula hype, and the 8 psi is simply the number carried over from their old marketing brochure).
There is buckling and there is deflection

Buckling is a function of the leading edge diameter and pressure.

Deflection is a function of the above and material property.

The roam Dacron had a huge leading edge, I haven’t seen the roam aluula in person but it doesn’t look exceedingly small to me.

I was told the Aluula kite should be pumped to 10 PSI instead of the usual 7-8.

I'd like to see some 'blind testing'.

Oh.

If you tell us the diameter of your Roam Dacron LE I'm sure someone here will post the diameter of their Roam Aluula LE so that they can be compared. :)

Don't measure diameter, the circumference would be good enough. Just put the ruler across deflated LE.

Measure either diameter or (as said above) width of deflated LE. Archimedes et.al. will do the rest.

That is NOT what is written on he kite near the valve, the recommended pressure is identified and it is not 10 ( for the flite 14.5) beats whatever you have heard concerning reliable source. :naughty:

I have a 12m Aluula Roam on order and have last year's 12m Roam in my quiver (which will be for sale once I get the Aluula). I'll take some comparison photos, weight, overall review once it arrives.
