Edje 15m or zephyr17 for light wind

Postby Surfnet » Thu Jul 04, 2019 5:47 am

Hello looking to buy a light wind kite. in my place everyday wind blow 10-12 knot somedays pickup to 15-17 .Iam 100kgr and with my switchblade 14 I am underpowered under 13 knots. So I have found in market ozone edge 15m v8 and ozone zephyr 17m v4. I like free ride tricks , big air and hang time. Which one kite to choose at your opinion? Thanks

I have owned many edges and two Zephyrs. I would say for what you are looking for - Zephyr without a doubt. It checks out on all the parameters (style, rider weight and use). The Edge 15 was designed for something different.

is there a reason to not use a foilboard?

i would have thought mowing the lawn attached to a giant dirigibles became obsolete 3 years ago..

I'm around 100kg and own a Zephyr. At 15-17 knots I would as all the others definitely go for Zephyr over Edge. Trying to jump in 15 knots with a kite that isn't big enough is rather zzzzzz.

Personally I don't think it is the easiest kite to jump with, but that is probably more down to my skill level. Hang time is very good, but I assume that would be the same for Edge (or even better).

Love the Zephyr. It is a truck though. So if you don't like your kite pulling quite hard then it might not be the kite for you. Personally I like the power so... and as you are in the same weight class it is just to lean back a bit more. Not the same if you are 70kg and want to control the Zephyr.

15m foilkite and fast tt is nice under 10kn even for 100kg+ dude.. What I've seen and I've seen a lot of LW LEIs, don't bother with those.

Here I am with my 110kg doing a demo with back then released Sonic1 15m at maybe 9kn.
