You can download the 3D Blender model from my homepage:
http://www.wingworks.de/downloads/

Take a close look at the design and send me your change requests.
Thank you! I am so glad I started the thread and that you read it! I am downloading blender now and will have a close look at the model :D

Some more details about the wing:
Sail area: 4.15sqm
Aspect ratio: 2.62
Wingspan (flat): 3.30m
Number of le segments: 6
Hight: -0.48m
Hight/span: -0.15
Leading edge length: 4.72m
Wingspan (proj.): 3.15m
Sail area (proj.): 4.01sqm
Aspect ratio (proj.): 2.48

Take a close look at the design and send me your change requests.
It look very good, but I measure centre chord to 183 cm instead of the specified 175. But I am in no position to say if this is good or bad :D
We are for all intents and purposes winging it :greenlaugh:

Thanks Stu - was trying to open the file in an older version of blender.

How did you decide on the amount of dihedral?

Pantau - how does Stus design compare with the wing you have already made? Would it be a simple task to add an inflatable strut as the handles option which seems to be the most popular solution amongst the brands?

Pantau -Brilliant to see a donate button at Wingworks now - finally I am able to buy you a beer or two as a small thanks for all the joy you have given me with the Agilus kites! (4m just completed - will post some pics on your other thread in the near future)

Going back to the original topic of the thread, I now have what looks like a functioning design template for a Surfplan wing - David Aberdeen kindly pointed out that my skin tension and rib tension values were all askew giving an unsewable LE, same problem Stu had - but this looks much better now

It is mostly based on the 3d-model here

PanTau, how would I go about making printable plans from the blender model?

I would be really really grateful for any feedback to tweak before I print cut and sew. One particular concern I have is the profile highlighted by the green rings - I am struggling to work out how to flatten this out which seems the intuitive thing to do - any tips very welcome

cheers
Hello everybody

We made a similar project with close wing characteristics, but it turned out to be too soft for us,

and it seems to me that you should make small changes to your project:
1. front V must be reduced to 7-8 degrees (large reduces the area)
2 it is desirable to increase the diameter of the balloon to 220 cm
3 you need to turn the assembly seam of the balloon 180 degrees under the fabric - in this case the balloon will be more rigid
and finally you should think about an inflatable boom as it’s easier to make ...

According to our riders, the F1 wing shows the best geometry available.

Final design (I think):

Front:
Front.PNG

Top:
Above.PNG

Bottom:
Below.PNG

Side:
Side.PNG

The wing is 4 sqm with a span of approx. 3m (flat).
There is no center strut in this design, but a telescope pole will be mounted in its place.
Consider having less segments (in the wingtips), they just increase amount of work. In general Surfwing is primitive thing, there is no need to try to make it more complex than it has to be. Stiffness is probably the most important thing, and IMO your LE looks too thin at the wingtips. It may even buckle under load (there is no bridle support). So check out and estimate how thick LE strut is in commercial wings. In some projections SP shows LE strut deformed at the wingtips in your design, IDK if there is some real problem or not. Worth checking and playing with different options for the wingtip shape, some of them also look correct.

Steve25: there is fully manual adjustment for canopy curve in SP, also for dihedral wings. Practically any shape is possible. Mr. Hansen explained this earlier in this thread.
Good Morning. Does anyone have the link to the surfplan file to download?

Hi Guys,

For DIY wing makers I've just uploaded a Wing version of KaroroCAD.online:

Let me know what you think!
