I agree with Pyrd. You dont want to strap yourself into a ski binding. When learning you do waaaaaaaaay too much crashing. You want you exit the board and crash way the f*** away from it or the foil will hunt you down.

I like the blueplanet nub idea. Essentially you just need something to push your feet around with.

If i was you Bille i would make my own purpose built feet or entire legs for kiteboarding. Make a wide platform with maybe a little flex in the ankle like a cheetah leg. I would have some anti slip rubber on the bottom of my feet and on the board. Use 2 nubs apposing each other.

Plummet is right, you want to be able to get away from it sometimes and getting back into the binding would be hard, and have to be done after you fell on every transition for quite a while. Do you ride a surfboard at all or just a twin tip? If you don't ride a surfboard I would suggest you work out the foot stuff with that before adding the foil complication.

Rather than foot "hooks", what about a roughly foot shaped hole cut into a thick sheet(s) of EVA foam? A slightly tight fit could help hold the foot in place safely.

I also agree that if you are planning to make your foil, use a corecell core for things. I'm sure you can make it light and strong. My foil is on its side after a crash 3/4 of the time, which could come in handy!

Two weeks ago, was the first time back on water , in 3.5-years.
I did a LOT of snow and land kiting ; my main focus, was paragliding
and Hang gliding for all that time.

The last year of water kiting, 3.5 years ago ; i mostly rode strapped
on a 6-ft Naish Reef directional, that i had cut 6" off the back , to
make it easier to turn. I don't have ankles that move ; all my turning
on a surfboard , comes from my hips.

I broke a few fake legs , strapped to that surfboard ; imagine
how bad a crash would be , strapped to a hydrofoil ?
Ain't gonna happen.

Speaking of surfboard :
Last Wednesday , my last session was on the surfboard , and
my lower Abs are KILLING me , because i use those mussels to turn
the directional ; anyone got a good work-out and stretching video
they could share ?

"oldkiter" gave me a new Dakine foot-hook for my directional.
Today i gave it a try ; got a 100-yd run with it and then my 15-M
ozone-C4 , kinda gave-up on me , and complained about wanting
More wind .

Gonna trade that C4 in , for a 15M used flysurfer something ; i
don't really want a bigger LEI. Hell, i Learned on a ram-air.

This Foot-Hoot thing, is gonna work-out , with 20-30 hours
of practice ; then it's , On to that hydrofoil !!!! Gotta
master the Hook, first ; or that hydrofoil is gonna Hurt.
