Any (amateur from one of us) video with the Hero 8 horizon levelling when used as a linecam?

Miss that, havent seen any in here.

Would also be nice to see how it works when only having the water surface and not the horizon in view, t.ex when kite is looped up high :D

Awesome if it works :thumb:

As I wrote before, I did some testing and it works brilliantly. Whether the horizon is there or not, the cam doesn't care and Levels perfectly because of the gyro sensor.
I'm sure in the near Futur all kiters will upgrade to this cam. It is so easy and the crop due to the leveling is really not recognizable.
Sorry, that I cannot upload a sample at the Moment, but others will do soon certainly...

Now the question is, how does the hero 8 compare in terms of leveling in linear mode?

As it must be superior in terms of quality I assume, but if the Max levels better it is more equal :D

Interesting now.

The Go Pro 8 does not have Leveling. It can only be done in the app and then it's super quality. The Max does it all in Camera and outputs a usable file with the leveling already applied.

Now I am confused...

kitenight11 says Hero 8 does it with a gyro in the cam, you say it does not, only the Max.

I don't have either, so don't know...

Heard rumors that you need special software to edit, or just a rumor?

For the Hero you need the app to make it Auto Level. The Max does it automatically. The files come out as normal mp4.

Look at this how to video on how to use the app for the Hero 8

That is exactly what I meant. After leveling the output looks graet. So if you record in 4K you get after leveling appr. 2.7 k output. And in my opion it stabilizes better than the max (looks like it hunts a couple of times if kite is in the cenit). Mine did not do this.

Look at this how to video on how to use the app for the Hero 8

Man am I the only to think that this new gopro 6, 7, 8 design is a piece of s###? Recording image quality is great, Im talking about the body design, interface and toughness.
However you clean it salt and water gets in and the doors jam after a month. The camera freezes/overheats. That god damm awfull touchscreen menu drives me nuts.
This camera is definitely NOT sea sports friendly.
