Duotone pump compatibility

Postby Jwoo » Mon Sep 16, 2019 11:48 pm

I just switched my kite quiver to Duotone Neo's and I'd like to buy a Duotone pump (since it fits the kite valve much better than the WMFG adapters that leak)... but I do have one odd kite. My big kite is a new 2019 Flite.

Does anyone know if the Duotone pump fits the ocean rodeo valve, or has an adapter that fits it (which I believe is the same as Cabrinha)? In the Duotone pump pictures it looks to have only two adapters, neither of which will fit the Ocean rodeo valve. I can't find a dealer that has OR kites and a Duotone pump to check it out.

My (older lime green - the previous generation) North pump only 'sort of' fits the OR Flite valve. The duotone pump adapter is about 1mm too narrow on the inside so you have to kind of force it but it will work in a pinch (or for several years if like me you are just too stubborn to buy another pump). If you wonder down to your Duotone dealer with one of the WMFG adaptors, you should be able to see how close it is and whether its an acceptable solution.

Slightly dissapointed to hear about the WMFG adaptors as I'm about to go the other way (have been using a North pump on OR Flites and just got some duotone kites and a WMFG pump)

I just found a third WMFG Duotone adapter that for some reason fits the Duotone valve without leaking, but it's not what I would call a "good" fit. Three that leak, one that doesn't. Not good odds.

For what it is worth, I am using a WMFG pump and WMFG adapter on my 2018 North Kites. I have no leaks, no issues.

Only difference in the two is a the rubber gasket on the duotone.pump.which the superior pump (omfg) more than makes up for in better air flow w
