Thanks for your reply Aleks!

I actually just got a Garmin watch especially for using it with a Woo, just need to buy a Woo now :D :D

The other option that i was considering was the apple watch, but i thought it would be too fragile to be use in the water + sand, especially considering the crashes
Good to hear that the apple watch is holding up well in the water though, can imagine this works very well with the nice screen it has!

I just got my apple watch series 6. Wore it over my wetsuit and because I use apple pay it requires a code (or permanent contact with my wrist). Pairing with WOO wasn't a problem but the watch didn't show the WOO app on the water, is this because of the code? Any workarounds?
I'll look into it, but generally locking is a problem. Did you try any other apps - are they able to avoid locking in similar situation (wesuit, long session)?

No I'll try.. But if you want to use apple pay the lock is required. And deactivating/reactivating is a bit of a hassle. I'm curious if anyone has found a workaround!

Sure. Do you have a problem the Android Watch app or request new features?

I'm a developer of WOO app for Android watch (as well as Garmin and Apple watches), so I'll try to help :D !
Thanks for your reply Aleks. As far as i can see, the Woo is still limited to WearOS watches. Will there be versions for more android watches? I use a WearOS watch, but i would like to upgrade to another watch and it seems as there are only a few new watches that are compatible. Am i wrong?
You might be confusing watches running Android WearOS with watches that just can be used with Android phones. There are a lot of new watches out there that use their own proprietary OS, which has no way of creating third party apps for them. Some bigger brands might have development tools for apps, but they might miss Bluetooth tools for WOO connection. So, the only real options right now are WearOS, Apple, and Garmin (Garming joined just recently, they introduced Bluetooth SDK only 1.5 years ago).

Can you give me an example of a watch you are interested in? I'll check and let you know whether it would be possible to create an app for it 8)
I thought of replacing my old Huawei Watch 2 with a new one. Not limited to Brands. So what about actual watches of Samsung or Huawei? These ones are easy and cheap to get over here.

Huawei GT watches have their own OS (Huawei Watch 2 was their last WearOS device as far as I know). I don't think they even have SDK open to 3rd parties.

Samsung watches use their own Tizen OS. It has SDK, but no API for Bluetooth support on watches (unless something changed recently).

We are used to things being available on all platforms, so we assume that it is easy to port software and we expect to see it everywhere. The reality is that it takes lots of work and often impossible :( .

Totally understand and agree. Unfortunatelly we have to play by Apple's rules when it comes to their hardware. You own the watch, but you can't use it the way you want - there are lots of restrictions in development as well. Try to check if it is possible to extend unlocked period. Other than that, I don't see any way to get around locking - it wouldn't be a very good safety lock if you could get around it :(

I have Apple watch 3 and a Catalyst case that makes the watch more waterproof and rugged. i haven’t had any issues with this setup. You’re right though, Apple watch was not designed for hard crashes in the water (at least from what I remember from my research). I’m not sure what other people’s experience is regarding this.

I lost one watch because of the Catalyst case - it cracked and the watch fell out. You are better off without that case.

OK, I tried the lock on Apple Watch 5. The lock with Wrist Detection locks up the watch (and exits to Watch face) as soon as it doesn't feel the pulse. Basically it is unusable over a wetsuit, and there is no workaround.

However, if you disable Wrist Detection, it works normally and doesn't lock up. You'll have to manually lock the watch tough. Also, I don't know if it works with Apple Pay - would you please check if it allows you to remove Wrist Detection? That would be easier then removing the whole passcode...

People would definitely complain if this didnt pair with the apple watch. :D But my comment was more from the view that apple watch is not by definition an outdoor / action watch, its not really built for that. So would be cool to see some more investment in developing / expanding compatibility with a wider choice of devices.
Hopefully more to come - on ALL platforms :thumb: . Exiting times :D
